Randy Ledford, 51, of Cleveland, passed away Monday, July 1, 2013. He died peacefully at home in his sleep, with his two beloved Huskies at his side. He was born September 7, 1961 in Mount Vernon, Illinois, the third of four children of a Church of God pastor. He moved to Cleveland in 1980 when his father, A. A. Ledford, was named national evangelist for the church, and Cleveland always remained his "home". Randy was happily employed at American Muscle, doing work he had always loved most - automotive restoration. He also continued proudly as a part-time worker on the staff at North Cleveland Church of God, where he will be missed by many people. He is survived by his loving mother, Vivian D. Ledford of Cleveland; his older brother, Joel Ledford (wife Patsy) of Richmond, Virginia; younger sister, Darla Prater (husband Dale) of Cleveland; nephews Shane Waters (wife Michelle) and Shae Waters (wife Sarah), both of Florida; and nieces Davi Idemudia (husband Emmanuel) of Nigeria, and Victoria (Tori) Ledford, of Memphis, Tennessee, as well as two grand-nieces and one grand-nephew. He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Amos A. Ledford of Cleveland, and his older sister Sharmin Waters of Baltimore, Maryland. Surely they are rejoicing together this very day around the throne of God, a testament to his mother's continual prayers for him. Although Randy might not have always let it show, he had a very tender heart. He loved animals and children, was a faithful friend, a loving son, and a wonderful brother. He also made a great home for nine years for his two dogs; they have now been adopted by another loving family, which would make Randy smile. A memorial celebration will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2013 at North Cleveland Church of God with Pastor Mitch Maloney and Pastor James Cossey officiating. There will be a private family interment. The family will receive friends from 11:00 - 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2013 at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Amputee Coalition at www.amputee-coalition.org. Arrangements are being handled by Grissom Funeral Home, Mark S. Grissom, Funeral Director. We invite you to post any memories of Randy on Facebook.com/Randyledford907 and to sign the Ledford family guest book at www.grissonfh.net .
