Helen Ayers Green

August 17, 1927 — September 6, 2013

Helen Ayers Green, 86 of Cleveland, TN, went home to Jesus on September 6, 2013 to a new beginning. Helen was an avid NASCAR fan, as well as a North Carolina Tarheel Basketball fan. She loved to read, embroider, and make people happy. She will be remembered for her sweet Christian Spirit, her sparkly blue eyes, her bright smile and her gentle ways and kind words. She was born on August 17, 1927, the seventh of nine children to the late Ernest Franklin Ayers, Sr. and Mattie Martin Ayers in Pinnacle, NC. Helen was the wife of the late Robert W. Green of Thomasville, NC and the mother of five children and two step-children. She lived with her family in NC until 1974. After living in Myrtle Beach, SC and Georgetown, SC for thirty-four years and after the death of her husband, Helen moved to Cleveland, TN to live with her daughter, Robin; her son-in-law, Mark; and her granddaughter, Claire. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and six siblings: Evelyn Ayers Gordon, Frances Ayers Johnson, Mary Ayers Markey, Mattie Ayers Buchanan, Dorothy Ayers Sloan, and George W. Ayers; and one step-son, Kenneth Bruce Green. Surviving to cherish her memory are her daughter, Robin Green Delaney (Mark); her sons, Craig E. Boose (Rita), Dennis Keith Boose; Douglas M. Boose (Josie), and Ronald G. Boose; her step-daughter, Brenda Green Williams (Bob) and her step-daughter-in-law, Mary Green; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Betty Ayers Jones and Ernest F. Ayers, Jr. A memorial service will be held at 5:15 p.m. on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at North Cleveland Baptist Church in the Annex with Pastor Jay McCluskey officiating. She will be buried at Pinnacle United Methodist cemetery beside her husband, Bob. Although Helen loved all kinds of flowers, she would rather have a donation made to Grace to the Finish at North Cleveland Baptist Church, 2815 Ocoee Street North, Cleveland, TN 37312. Arrangements are being handled by Grissom Funeral Home, Mark S. Grissom, Funeral Director. We invite you to send a message of condolence and view the Green family guest book at www.grissomfh.net.
