Helen Merrell Currin

Mrs. Helen Merrell Currin of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away October 29, 2013. The Giles County, Tennessee, native was born September 16, 1926 to David Harris and Sarah Reviea Merrell. She is preceded in death by her husband, Barron Currin, of Ardmore, Tennessee. Mrs. Currin was educated in the public schools of Giles County, and was a graduate of Martin Methodist College in Pulaski, Tenn., and Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tenn. She taught school for 16 years, having spent 9 years as a member of the Elkton High School faculty in Giles County. She was a long-time member of the Ardmore United Methodist Church. More recently, she attended Tasso United Methodist Church in Cleveland. She is survived by her son, Barry Merrell Currin, his wife Kim, and grandson Grant Currin, all of Cleveland; brother, Joe M. Merrell and sister-in-law, Jeanene, and nephew, Greg Merrell, all of Elkton; several nieces and nephews. A visitation will held from noon until 2:00 p.m., on Friday, November 1, 2013 at Grissom Funeral Home in Cleveland, TN. The family will receive friends in Alabama at Ardmore Funeral Home on November 2, 2013 at 1:00 p.m., with funeral services at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore, AL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, http://www.hospiceofchattanooga.org/. Arrangements are being handled by Grissom Funeral Home, Mark S.
