Fran "Shug" Green

Fran "Shug" Green, 65, of Reliance, passed away, Friday, November 8, 2013at her home. She was born in Reliance and lived in Athens, AL for 20 years. She returned back and has called Reliance home for the past 15 years. She sang with the Gospel Pioneers and had a servant's heart for people. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Thomas Taylor and Ruby Louise Jones Taylor and siblings, Goldman Delano Taylor, Danny Lee Taylor, Alice Wilcox and Ally Lorene Taylor. She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Bo Green; children, Ricky Yates, Hartselle, AL, Cody and Vanessa Yates of Athens, AL and Angela and Randall Ricks of Horn Lake, MS; nine grandchildren, Colby Yates, Mahalia Yates, Chase Yates, Jacob (Angela) Sellers, Sarah (Timothy) Wood, Kristain Ricks, Joshua Ricks, Lacenda (Chris) Douthit and Chelsea (James) Miles; twelve great-grandchildren, Dalton , London and Auston Wood, Jordan and Odakota Sellers, Isabaella, Emma and Brylie Ricks, Gage Douthit, Desiree, Adien, and Raelynn Miles; sister, Ann and Melvin Goode of Reliance. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family also survive. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 10, 2013 in the chapel of Grissom Funeral Home with the Reverend Ricky Bell officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service.
