Barbara Sue Garner

Barbara Sue Johnson Garner, 77, of Cleveland and formerly of Copperhill, TN, passed away, Monday, February 24, 2014 in a Cleveland healthcare facility. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She worked for the Veteran's Administration as a telephone operator and purchasing agent in Cleveland, Memphis and Nashville. Ms. Garner loved to garden, read, sew and swim. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde Walter and Ollie Culberson Johnson. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Eugene Garner of Cleveland; daughter, Denna Farris of Delano, TN; son, Donald Wayne Copeland, Jr. of Hawthorne, CA; two grandchildren, John Farris and Regina Laughlin; three great grandchildren; one sister, Joyce Marie Basham of Cleveland; and special caregiver, Louise Farmer Balde of Georgetown, TN. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2014 in the chapel of Grissom Funeral Home with Pastor James Garner officiating. Interment will be held at 4:00 p.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Culberson, NC with Kenny Basham, Rickey Basham, Tracy Garner, Sebastian Brock Poole, John Farris and Markus Basham serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2014 at the funeral home.
