Dr. Horace S. Ward, Jr. age 74, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 11, 2014. He was born March 30, 1939 in Garahuns, Pernambuco, Brazil to Rev. Horace S. and Eva Carolyn (Hall) Ward, Sr. Horace spent the first twelve years of his life in Brazil and then moved with his family to Ashland, KY. He graduated from high school at the Academy at Southwestern Bible College, Oklahoma City. He received his BA from Cedarville University, Cedarville, OH, his BS from Central State University, Wilberforce, OH and his MA and PHD from The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH. Horace was ordained into the ministry of the Church of God on June 27, 1966 and pastored churches in Ohio, Florida, Tennessee and Maryland. As an educator he served as instructor, assistant professor and Dean of Students at Lee University, Cleveland, TN and as President of West Coast Christian College in Fresno, CA. After retirement he moved to Yukon, OK in August 2006 and was a member of Southern Hills Church of God in Oklahoma City. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson Paul Horace Ward. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Marilyn of the home, one son David Ward and wife Paula of Yukon, two brothers Duteil Ward and wife Norine of Xenia, OH, Rev. James Ward and wife Joyce of Greensboro, NC, brother in law Wayne Eastham and wife Linda of Medical Lake, WA, four nieces, three nephews and their families. Horace has been blessed by a host of loving family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Parkinsons Foundation or to the Horace S. Ward Endowed Scholarship at The Pentecostal Theological Seminary, in care of McNeil's Funeral Service. Services will be held at 2pm on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Southern Hills Church of God in Oklahoma City ,OK with interment to follow in Yukon Cemetery, Yukon, OK under the direction of McNeil's Funeral Service, Mustang, Oklahoma.
