Reverend William Clay Meyers

October 12, 1922 — April 22, 2014

Reverend William Clay Meyers, 91, a resident of Cleveland, TN, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday afternoon, April 22, 2014 at his residence. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his home going. He was a member of Westmore Church of God. Clay was a retired minister with the Church of God having served as an evangelist and pastor. His work led him to the states of Michigan, Maryland, Ohio, Illinois, California, North Carolina and Tennessee. His influence encouraged and helped many young ministers. He was always ready to speak positive words to those who were discouraged. He loved life enjoying golf, woodworking and being surrounded by his family. He was extremely proud of all his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Meyers, who served faithfully alongside him in his ministry efforts. He is survived by his present wife, Georgia Bailey Meyers; one brother, Lewis Meyers of Louisvile, KY; children and spouses, Delores Stewart, Doris (Jim) Barker and Barry (Carla) Meyers all of Cleveland; grandchildren, Renee Mize, Sheri (Paul) Harper, Vicki Rogers, Dean Peterson, Pam (Doug) Clark, Jimmy (Amy) Barker, Dustin (Lauren) Meyers, and Kristen (Shaun) McAmis; nine great grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life and Home Going of William Clay Meyers will be held Friday, April 25, 2014 at 12 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with Reverend H.B. Thompson, Jr. and Reverend Wendell Smith officiating. Interment will be at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens following the service. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 24 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Grissom Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements, Mark S. Grissom Funeral Director.
