Martha Magdalene Prater

Martha Magdalene Prater, 87, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014, at her residence. She was a member of Shenandoah Baptist Church. Ms. Prater loved to embroider. She took great pride in her family. She loved her kids and grandkids. She was the daughter of the late George and Mary Jane Brown Mull, also proceeded in death by her husband, Thomas Jefferson Prater; son, Thomas Houston Prater; and daughter, Martha Faye Prater. Survivors include her sons, Larry Prater and wife, Hazel of TN, George Prater and wife, Carol, John Prater and Karen, and Butch Prater and wife, Patti all of MI; daughters, Marilynn Brown and husband, Jerry and Gail Ledford and husband, Lawrence both of TN, and Sue Zydrski and husband, Don of MI; daughter-in-law, Elaine Prater of MI; 21 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and her caregiver and friend, Norma Loper. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, 2014, in the chapel of Grissom Funeral Home with Reverend Brent Coley officiating. Interment will be held at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Benton with Austin Phillips, Mark Ledford, Scottie Burns, Jerry Howard, Tony Brown and Scottie Eason serving as pallbearers.
