Dr. Susan Rogers, age 49, resident of Cleveland, TN, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 4, 2014. She was surrounded by her loving family. Susan was a Professor of British Literature for 20 years at Lee University. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Lee University and received her Masters Degree and her Doctoral Degree from the University of Alabama. She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church where she served as a Reader. She loved to travel and she was an avid Alabama Fan. She was preceded in death by her father, David Keith Rogers, Sr. and a gentleman who was like her father, Robert E. Blackaby. She is survived by her loving mother, Judy Grissom and husband, Tom Grissom, who was a dear person in Susan's life. Other survivors include her brothers, David Keith Rogers, Jr., Kevin Eugene Blackaby and wife, Vernice and Robert Stuart Blackaby and wife, Kimberly all of Cleveland. Three nieces, Anna Claire, Jane Elizabeth and Grace Caroline Blackaby and two nephews, Phillip Brooks and Nathan Brooks. Aunts; Diana (Sugar) Davis and husband, Austin, Birmingham, AL, Rosa Carr and husband, Edwin, Oxford, AL, Eujena Collings and husband, John A., Geraldine, AL, Linda McCollum and husband, James, Geraldine, AL; Uncles, John R. Rogers and wife, Mary Lou, Geraldine, AL, Edward Rogers and wife, Shirley, Albertville, AL, Truman L. Rogers and wife, Gayla, Albertville, AL and Kelly W. Rogers, Albertville, AL. Numerous cousins and a host of friends also survive. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church with The Rev. Joel Huffstetler officiating. Interment will follow in St. Luke's Memorial Gardens. The family requests in lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the ALS Foundation or the Hospice of Chattanooga.
