James Darrell McCarthy

Darrell McCarthy, of Ooltewah passed away July 5, 2014, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born, August 4, 1945 in Maryville, TN. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Jim and Louise McCarthy; his brother, Gerald; his sister, Gail. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sharron; his daughter and her husband, Konnie and Jones; his 2 grandchildren and "the lights of his life," Jarren and Sarah Jones; and his sister and brother in law, Frances and Frank Carpenter. Darrell owned and operated McCarthy Trucking Company for 20 years. He was a retired commercial pilot, a retired Air National Guard for McKee Tyson in Knoxville, TN. He was a Mason since 1976. Darrell was an avid pilot, hunters and local car show enthusiast. He proudly displayed his black 66 Chevelle. He loved life, his family, friends and his little white dog, Doodles. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. A memorial celebration of his life will be held, Sunday, July 13 at 4:00 pm at the Historic James County Courthouse in Ooltewah, TN. Arrangements are being handled by Grissom-Serenity Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Mark Grissom Funeral Director.
