Gloria Kim Smith, age 57, of Chattanooga, TN passed peacefully at home on Monday, August 12, 2013. Kim was preceded in death by her father; Beecher W. Smith who was in the automotive business and her mother, Gloria Bonham Smith, a career nurse at Memorial Hospital.
She attended Tyner High School, where she was Tyners Christmas Queen. She attended UTC and was a member of the Singing Mocs and the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. After her car accident in 1976, Kim continued her singing career and went on to win the Wrangler Country Music Star Search. Kim sang her heart out from Chattanooga to Cleveland for the Elks Lodge, Rockin Country Club, Sheraton East ridge, Governors Inn, Widow McCoys and the Brass Register to name just a few. She sang with many well-known local musicians such as Danny Shirley, Robert Crabtree, Ricky Sharp, Ralph Herman and her best friend, guitarist Dale Walker. The caged bird has flown, pleasant journey Kim and God speed, We Love You.
She is survived by her fianc, Neil Carter; best friends, Jeni Michelson, Arthur (an African Gray Parrot) and Dooley (her beloved Bassett hound mutt), sister, Kelly Smith and nephew Beecher Oliver Smith.
