Anna Darlene Johnson (Nieukirk) passed away peacefully on May 23, 2013 at 10:50 pm at the Hospice Center of Chattanooga surrounded by her family. Darlene was 80 years old and born in Peoria, IL, on June 21, 1932 to Henry and Jessie Nieukirk.

Currently a resident of Chattanooga, TN, she lived a majority of her days in Peoria, North Pekin, and Roodhouse, IL.

Darlene was married to Albert Chester Johnson on December 3, 1948. After 55 wonderful years of marriage and four children, Al passed away peacefully at home on July 4, 2004.

She is also preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, two sisters, and one grandson, Scott E M Johnson.

She is survived by her sister, Dolores Hoffman of Morton, IL, and four children, Albert Spike Johnson (Sue) of Douglasville, GA; Ardella Della Evans (Bud deceased ) of Chattanooga, TN; Pamela Simpson (Scott) of Peoria, IL; and Catherine Cathy Stark of Chattanooga, TN.

Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Wayne Johnson (Brenda), Chesera Young (Cameron), Jessica Evans (Jav Segovia), Carrie Keith, Sarah Caunter, Danny Keith (Erin), Missy Dempsey, Cindy Stark (Rook Greene), and 12 great-grandchildren.

She loved crafts, crosswords, collecting butterflies and tea pots. She was most known for loving to spend time with her family especially her great-grandchildren.

She will always be remembered by family and friends as a very independent, caring woman that is now happily dancing through the heavens with her beloved, Al.
