Doris Dixon Goza, age 77, a resident of Cleveland passed away Saturday evening at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN. Mrs. Goza was the daughter of the late Cynthia Beard Dixon and Edward Dixon. She was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Ann Dixon and brothers, George and James W. Dixon.
Mrs. Goza graduated from Baroness Erlanger School of Nursing in Chattanooga in 1958. She was the director of nursing in Jackson Co. Hospital in Scottsboro, AL; Nursing Supervisor, DeKalb Co. Hospital in Ft. Payne, AL; Surgical Nurse at Bradley Memorial Hospital; Office Manager/Office Nurse for 20 years for Drs. Kyle, Bryan and Jackson and practiced the remaining 10 years of her career with Home Health Care of East TN. Mrs. Goza frequently provided care for elderly citizens in the Michigan Avenue community before home health care became readily available. She was a member of Whos Who in American Nursing and also a life-long member of Michigan Avenue Baptist Church. Mrs. Goza loved her home, family, flowers and community. She and her husband, Wayland, often golfed with friends.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Wayland Goza, of Cleveland; her daughter, Dee Hendrick and husband Dr. John Hendrick of Johnson City, TN; sons Jay Goza and Bud Goza and wife, Jennifer, all of Cleveland; brothers, Julien Nig Dixon and wife Eva, and Wayne Dixon; sisters, Honey Climer and husband Lake; Reba Howell and husband Ken; Mickey Wooten and husband Chester; Audrey Dixon; and Sandra Gray and husband Larry; sister-in-law Joy Dixon; Hilda and Jack Knap of Miami, FL; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be 6:00pm, Monday, May 13, 2013 at Michigan Avenue Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to Michigan Avenue Baptist Church Music fund.
