Carl Truman Moore

January 28, 1924 — October 21, 2014

Carl Truman Moore, 90, passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at his home. He was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Cleveland and St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Athens. He sang in the choir at church, was a member of the Elks Lodge and a volunteer at Skyridge Medical Center. Carl played golf up until three weeks before he passed away and formerly served as director at Hiwassee Mental Health. He was a veteran of the United States Marines and served in the Korean War and World War II. He loved the Lady Vols. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Ruby C. Moore and parents, Martin Van Buren and Mattie Moore. He is survived by his children, Keith Moore of Cleveland and Mary Elizabeth Moore of Jacksonville, FL; granddaughter, Sarah Davis and her mother, Kathy Moore, both of Cleveland. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church with the Reverend Joel Huffstetler officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
