Penny S. Dowdy

Penny Rogers Dowdy, age 50, of Clarksville, TN, passed away on December 13, 2014. Born on February 29, 1964, in Cleveland, TN, Penny was the daughter of Melvin and Marcela Rogers and the adoptive daughter of Murl and Carolyn Dirksen of Cleveland. She is the sister of Otis and Jimmy Rogers of Cleveland, and Jerry Rogers and Sandra Kappler, deceased. Penny attended Blythe-Bower and Black Fox Elementary Schools, and Bradley Junior High and High School. She was married to Tony Dowdy in 1982. After living in Cleveland and Germany, the family moved to Clarksville, TN, where she completed training as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Nashville Community College. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Marcela Rogers, and by her siblings, Jerry Rogers and Sandra Kappler. She is survived by her life partner, Franklin Davidson of Clarksvills; her children, Jessica Greenhill, Clarksville, TN; Jeremiah Dowdy, Clovis, NM; and Cody Dowdy, Colorado Springs, CO. She is also survived by grandchildren, Hunter and Caleb Bergeron; Adara Molina, McKenzie Calgaro, and Ibn and Jacob Dowdy. Family will gather for a private memorial ceremony at Grissom -Serenity Funeral Home in Cleveland, TN on Sunday December 21.
