A.J. Arthur

Mr. A. J. Arthur, age 89, resident of Cleveland, TN, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 10, 2015. He passed away in a local healthcare facility with his loving family by his side. He was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church. He was a faithful member of the St. Andrews Sunday School class. He was employed with Cooke's Food Store for over 40 years. He attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He was loved by everyone that knew him. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ann Arthur and his brother, J. D. Arthur. And the Lord said unto him, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." He is survived by his son, Tommy Arthur, Cleveland, TN; grandson, Dr. Scott Arthur and his wife, Sally, of Brentwood, TN, granddaughter, Kellye and her husband, Todd Renker; great grandchildren, Jamison and Will Arthur and T. J. and Katie Renker. His loving church family and a host of friends also survive. A Celebration of the Life and Home Going of A. J. Arthur will be held Monday, January 12, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Drew Henry and Rev. Tim Bracken officiating. Special music provided by Karen Dale. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with members of the United Methodist Men's Group serving as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, A. J.'s request was that memorials please be made to the First United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends Monday, January 12, 2015, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church.
