Cora Davis Rue

Mrs. Cora D. Rue, 101, a resident of McDonald, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday, January 11, 2015. She passed in a local healthcare facility. She was born in Catoosa County, GA October 22, 1913. Mrs. Rue was a long time member of the McDonald Methodist Church, where she taught the Davis Sunday School Class until age 91. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh C. Davis and Emily Raulston Davis; husband, William M. Rue; daughter, Willie Mae Rue; brothers, John Harvey Davis and Edward Hugh Davis and sister, Joyce Marion Price. She is survived by her children, James M. Rue and wife, Betty of McDonald and Emily Louise Watkins and husband, Bob of Ooltewah; three grandchildren, Teresa Oxford and husband, Sten of Knoxville, Tony Rue of Hamilton County and Dr. Marcella Greene and husband, Danny of Knoxville; one great-grandson, Tracy Oxford and wife, Caroline and one great-great-grandson, Luke Oxford, all of FL; brothers, James Raulston Davis and wife, Yako of Colorado Springs, CO and Ernest Tipton Davis of McDonald. Several nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends also survive. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 in the chapel of Grissom-Serenity Funeral Home with Ministers Richard Anderson and David Rollins officiating. Interment will follow in Lee Cemetery, McDonald, TN with Tony Rue, Danny Greene, Sten Oxford, Donnie Price, Jimmy Hice, Dale Davis, Kenneth Roark, Johnny Pickett and Stacy Bowen serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Davis, Darrell Thurman, Cletis Baily, Calvin Brock, Jack Kile, Elbert Dixon, Jeff Gregory and Jack McCarter. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at the funeral home.
