Gilbert G. Barnett

Gilbert Garner Barnett 80 born July 28, 1934 in Cullman County, Alabama went to meet his Lord and Savior on February 5, 2015 in Cleveland Tennessee. As a young man he was drawn to military service and he joined the Air Force. He proudly served his country in duty stations ranging stateside to England. After active duty to his country he was honorably discharged at the rank of E-4 with numerous commendations. Gil continued to serve his country and fellow veterans as an active member of the VFW Post #2598 and the American Legion Post #81. He took special pride serving as Honor Guard to numerous veterans well into his 70's. Gil was preceded in death by his parents, Wilburn Bunyun and Willie Mae Barnett. Survivors include one son Stephen Daniel Barnett of Cleveland, TN one brother Wilburn Dyrel Barnett of Clay Alabama, sister-in-law Alene Barnett, one sister Alyne Williams of Huntsville, Alabama brother-in-law Chales Williams. 3 grandchildren Erica Bales 26, Shasha Barnett 18, and Shane Barnett 13 all of Cleveland, TN. Also several nieces and nephew Quick with a smile and generous helping hand to anyone in need, we celebrate Gil's life. His Memorial service will be help at Grissom Serenity Funeral Home in Cleveland, TN on Feb. 10, 2015. The family will receive visitors from 2:00-4:00 pm.
