Barbara v. Thomas

Barbara Virginia Hicks Thomas, 83, a resident of Cleveland, died early Sunday morning, April 19, 2015 in a local healthcare facility. She was a lifetime member of Michigan Avenue Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was the director for Vacation Bible School for several years. She loved to garden. She was preceded in death by her husband E. Bedford Thomas; parents, John I, Hicks and Della Moore Hicks; two sisters, Martha Burgess and Charlotte Hicks; one daughter-in-law, Sharon Thomas; one grand daughter, Rachel Thomas. Survivors include her children; Michael (Janet) Thomas, of St. Charles, Missouri; Steve Thomas of Cleveland, and Lori Blair, also of Cleveland; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeff) Bain, and Bethany Baker; four great grandchildren, Matthew Alexander, Noah Alexander, Ashlyn Dixson and Brianna Dixson; two brothers, John R. (Mildred) Hicks of Cleveland, and Joe M. (Sue) Hicks of Charleston, Tennessee; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at the Chapel of Grissom Serenity Funeral Home with Reverend Coby Goins officiating. Interment will follow in Michigan Avenue Cemetery with Matthew Alexander, Jeff Bain, Jake Archer, Russ Archer, Kevin Hicks and Jeff Burgess serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 5-8p.m. Monday, April 20, 2015 at the funeral home.
