Herbert Queen, 87, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2015 at the Hospice of Chattanooga nursing facility. He was born in Morganton, GA on January 14, 1928, and was one of 12 children. He is the last of the family to pass on. He had many interests but the one he enjoyed the most was being a good and loving husband to Margaret and their two sons, Michael and wife Sandy Queen, of Castle Pines, CO., and Keith and his wife Janet, of Waukeska, WI. He also had four loving grandchildren, Rudy, Krystal, Sam and Rosalie. As a young man, he joined the U.S. Navy and spent two years aboard the U.S.S. Randolph aircraft carrier. However, most of his life, he was in and around Detroit, Michigan where he retired from the Dayton/J.L. Hudson's department store, in 1989, after 32 years. Both he and Margaret are members of the Westmore Church of God and he loved Jesus with all his heart. This has been a special encouragement during his illness and now we know he is well taken care of. He leaves many, many fond memories to his wife, Margaret, and family. There will be a private service, after the cremation, at Fort Hill Cemetery. Friends will be notified as to when that service will be held. The family asks in lieu of flowers to make a donation to the Wounded Warriors Foundation. Arrangements are being handled by Grissom-Serenity Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Mark S. Grissom, owner and funeral director.
