Donald Baker Gibson, M.D. age 85 passed away August, 21, 2015. Resident of Cleveland, Tennessee for 40 years. Funeral services will be Sunday, August 23, 2015 at the Grissom Funeral Home in Cleveland Tennessee. The visitation will held be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. and the funeral to follow. Speakers at the Funeral service will be Dr. R. Hollis Gause, Hugh Carver, and Lisa Gibson Page. There will be a private graveside service later for the family only. Donald Baker Gibson was born at home in Gaffney South Carolina January 24, 1930. He graduated from Gaffney High School where he played baseball, acted in the school plays and was voted Most Versatile, Most Talented and Most Likely to Succeed. He has a B.S in Math from Limestone College, a B.A. in Religion from Lee College, where he also taught Biology, Greek and Math, a M.A. in Religion from Drake University and became an ordained Church of God minister, a PhD from Columbia Pacific University in Musculoskeletal Evaluations and a medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. He became a physician in 1965, retired in 2006 but as of 2015 he is currently licensed to practice in South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee. He is life member of the American Medical Association and a life fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He had a private practice as a Family Practice Physician and Disability Evaluations in Cleveland Tennessee for 40 years. His wife Jayne Gibson was the Registered Nurse and office manager of his practice. His hobbies include writing songs, The Ballad of Daniel Morgan and books, The Roosevelt Miller Story of his good friend Roosevelt Miller as well as a book of medical advice for parents, Dr. Mom. He enjoyed shopping at Flea Markets, watching vintage movies and keeping up with current events. Dr. Gibson is survived by his son from his first marriage Dean Gibson, his wife of 43 years Jayne Gibson, their daughter Lisa Gibson Page her husband Will Page and their 2 children, his grandchildren Garner Wilson Page and Gibson "Gibbi" Elizabeth Page, his friend of 62 years Dr. R. Hollis Gause, his friend of 40 years Hugh Carver and his colleague R. Jerome Shepherd. Dr. Gibson is preceded in death by his parents Basil Lee Gibson and Emma Baker Gibson, his sister Ruth Elizabeth Gibson, his brothers Clifford Patterson Gibson, James William Gibson and Paul Franklin "Frank" Gibson, his son Donald Baker Gibson, Jr, his friend Roosevelt Miller and his friend Floyd Hardin. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the American Cancer Society (m.cancer.org) for Pancreatic Research in memory of Donald B. Gibson, Jr.
