Jackie Smith Henegar

Jackie Smith Henegar, age 61, of Ringgold, passed away Friday evening , October 23, 2015, at her home. Born March 5, 1954 in Cleveland to the late George "Jack" and Sue Starr Smith, she had been a resident of Ringgold, GA since 1992. As a child, Jackie always wanted to be a nurse and she pursued her career in earnest. Her other passion was basketball. She was a member of the 1970 State championship Bradley Central High School basketball team and became a member of the Bradley Central high school hall of Fame in 2006. Jackie earned and received her associate degree in Nursing from Cleveland State in 1976. Jackie never met a stranger, she was a warm hearted woman who enjoyed life, music, traveling and was passionate about her career as a nurse and spending time with her family and friends. She worked in several Chattanooga area hospitals and home health care facilities including Memorial Hospital and was the director of nursing at NHC Rossville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Timothy Starr Smith; and a sister-in-law, Donna Gala Brodie. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 27 years, John F. Henegar of Ringgold; children, Kimberley Shawn Copeland and husband Brian of Cleveland, Kari Susanne Vaughn and husband Mika of Cleveland, and William Matthew " Matt" Collins and wife Amber Lynn of Ringgold; grandchildren, Bryce Copeland, Brooke Copeland , Cole Copeland ,Cade Collins, Macie J. Collins, Paisley Collins, Averie Vaughn, and Alivia Vaughn; brother, Rip Smith of Nashville; father-in-law, Donald G. Henegar of Rossville, Georgia; brother-in-law, Raymond Brodie of Rossville, Georgia; and best friend Lisa Chambers of Lookout Mountain, GA. Several nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends and the entire Bear Nation also survive. The family will receive friends from 5-8p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at Grissom Serenity Funeral Home. A celebration of Jackie's Life will follow at 8p.m.in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Phil Griffin officiating.
