Marcia Louise Chickering, age 92, resident of Cleveland, TN, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015, in a local healthcare facility. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cleveland. She was active in the United Methodist Women, Martha Hall Circle, member of the Chase Sunday School Class and music teacher and story teller, affectionately known as “Miss Marcia”, at the Child Development Center at First United Methodist. She was a foster grandparent at Oak Grove School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Chickering, granddaughter, Amy Michelle Peterson and brother, Roger Jay Hosford.
She is survived by one son and daughter in law, Rev. Richard Allen (Nancy) Chickering, Napolean, Ohio, two daughters and sons-in-law, Norma Mae (Jan) Loganville, GA and Phyllis (Bill) Brown, Cleveland, TN; one granddaughter and her spouse, Jennifer (Rob) Moss, two grandsons and spouse, Timothy (Megin) Chickering and Jonathan Chickering; five great grandchildren, Rachael Chickering, Emily and Riley Chickering and Bobby and Charlie Moss.
A celebration of the life and home going of Marcia Louise Chickering will be held Sunday, November 29, 2015, at 4:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Pat Hogan officiating. Interment will be held Monday, November 30, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
At the request of “Miss Marcia”, in lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the Children’s Ministry at First United Methodist Church 3425 North Ocoee Street Cleveland, TN 37312.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church.
