William E. “Bill” Parker, age 90, a lifelong resident of McDonald, passed away Friday, January 29, 2016, at a Chattanooga hospital.
Son of the late Earl and Margie Parker. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Betty Jo Parker, sister, Alice Weaver, and son, William E. Parker Jr., and grandson, Ronald E. Parker, Jr.
Left to cherish his memory is son Ronald E. Parker Sr. and Wanda (wife), daughter-in-law, Donna Parker, Granddaughter, Teresa Bowman and Mark (Husband), great granddaughter, Jacora Lin Parker and many other Granddaughters, great-grandchildren and Special friend Stella Crump.
He was veteran of World War II and served his country at the Battle of the Bulge while receiving the good conduct medal, World War II victory ribbon, army of occupation medal and carried the combat infantry badge. He was a life member of the American Legion Bradley County Post 81.
He loved playing cards, watching baseball, football and basketball games. He was a long standing Proud Member of the Cleveland Elk’s Lodge #1944. Each year the local Elk’s take underprivileged children to shop for Christmas. Bill would have wanted to continue this great community project.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to Shop with an Elk % Cleveland Elk’s Lodge #1944, P,O. Box 1034 Cleveland, TN 37364-1034.
Family will receive friends this Monday evening from 5 to 8 at Grissom Funeral Home on N. Ocoee Street and a military graveside service will be held on Tuesday, at Hilcrest Cemetery at 11 AM with Rev. Steve Gilbert officiating.
Pallbearers will be fellow ELK members D.L. Carter, Stony Brooks, Jimmy Clark, Don Hudson, Terry Buckner along with Mark Bowman.
Grissom-Serenity Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
