Thomas"Virgil" Hollifield

Thomas "Virgil" Hollifield passed away March 27, 2016, at his home in Indianapolis, Indiana.  He was born on May 19,1937 in Rome, Georgia to the late Victor Sr. and Bertie (Brown) Hollifield.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Victor Hollifield, Jr., his former wife Jeanette (Humberd) Hollifield and his grandson Andy Miller.

He is survived by his wife Lillian (Disney) Hollifield, his daughter Darlene (Hollifield) Goolsby (Terry), his brother Jack Hollifield (Shirley), his sister Peggy (Hollifield) Duke, his grandchildren Shannon Chambers (John), Matthew Myers, Michelle Hensel (Michael), Heather Myers, Hannah Myers, Kyle Myers, Matthew Coverstone and Cody Myers, Arianna Mullins-Goolsby and Justin Fleetwood-Goolsby, and his great grandchildren, Landan, Ethan, Faith, Luke, Evan, Austin and Lilly as well as several nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by his former wife's children, Steve Miller, Scot Miller, Sonya Moats and grandchildren April Reeder, Colton Reeder, Tiffany Miller, Cody Miller, Chandler Miller and several great grandchildren.

Virgil retired from Magic Chef after 36 years of employment as well as retired from the US Army/National Guard as a Sergeant after serving our country for 21 years.  He was a member of Union Baptist Church while a Tennessee resident.  Virgil enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, playing horseshoes, spending time with his family and making others laugh.

A Remembrance of Life Service will be held at Grissom Serenity Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Humbard presiding.  Visitation will be held on Friday, April 1st at 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with funeral services to be held on Saturday, April 2nd at 1:00 p.m.  The internment will follow at the Union Baptist Cemetery.
