EDWARD MANTHORNE WUESTHOFF 1927-2016

 

In loving memory of a wonderful father, husband, brother, friend, community volunteer, whose bright smile, wit and wisdom were a constant example of love and faith for all who met him. Edward Manthorne Wuesthoff was a lover of life, of springtime and nature, of art and most of all of people. He died on April 12, 2016 in Cleveland Tennessee. 

He was born on September 18, 1927, in Boston Massachusetts to the late Sybil Eugenia Condon and Edward Nicholas Wuesthoff.

He met the love of his life Juliane Goetz while serving the U.S. Army in Augsburg, Germany after WWII. They married and returned to California and raised a loving family.

Ed is preceded in death by his wife and companion of 62 years Juliane. He also is preceded in death by brothers David and Joel.  He leaves behind to cherish his memory 5 adult children: Johanna Riddle, Edward Wuesthoff, Erika Walker, Stephen Wuesthoff, and Phil Westhoff.  His memory will also be cherished by sisters Ann and Virginia and brother John. The light of Ed’s life are his fifteen grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Numerous extended family members and friends also join in remembering him.

He was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church; Serra Club in Chattanooga TN; Knights of Columbus; retired as an executive from Westinghouse and White Consolidated Industries; volunteered as an instructor for Opportunity for Adult Reading. 

 

Visitation is 5pm - 7:30pm on Friday April 15 at Grissom Serenity Funeral Home at 3010 Ocoee Street North, Cleveland, TN.

Funeral Mass will be at 11am Saturday April 16 at St. Therese of Lisieux in Cleveland, TN followed by internment at Sunset Memorial Gardens. 

The reception will be at St.Therese’s gym.

The family requests that any donations in the name of Edward Manthorne Wuesthoff go to St. Therese, 900 Clingan Ridge Dr. NW, Cleveland, TN 37312
