Kathryne (Kitty) Kimmons Murray, 82, of Cleveland, passed away, Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was a member of Prospect United Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Kitty enjoyed playing the piano and organ and she was an organist at the church, where she started playing at the age of 16 and has played for over 60 years. She was a worldwide traveler and enjoyed hiking and camping in the Great Smoky Mountains. Kitty also loved to garden and was a member of the Senior Circle at Bradley Memorial Hospital, where she worked as a registered nurse.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Murray and her parents, Joe and Willie Mae “Bill” Kimmons.
She is survived by her children, Beth (Steve) Hodgin of Cleveland, Amy (Mike) Slifko of Cleveland, Jo (Danny) Deckard of Durham, NC and Meg (Ross) Raines of Hixson; grandchildren, Tammy (Travis) Musick, Justin (Sabrina) Lynn, Brandi Deckard, Jake Slifko, Daniel (Caroline) Hodgin, Katie Slifko, and Rusty Deckard; step-grandchildren, Isaac Raines, Caleb Raines, Nikki Binder, Mindy Deckard and Mallory Harless; great-grandchildren, Taylor and Ethan Musick and Parker Baluh; step-great-grandchildren, Kaylee Joyner, Raegan, Olivia and Ashton Binder, Michael Epps, Annielou Hensley and Lizzie Goggins; brother, Joe (Elizabeth) Kimmons of Pigeon Forge. Many special friends from work and church and several nieces and nephews also survive.
A gathering of friends and family will be at 2:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life service at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Prospect United Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Heidi Johnson and the Reverend Jen Newell officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Prospect United Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Hearth Hospice or the charity of your choice.
The family wishes to acknowledge with gratitude the loving care Kitty received from Hearth Hospice and Preferred Care at Home during her final days.
