Pauline Lamb Thomas, age 81, a resident of Cleveland, Tenn., passed away peacefully early Friday morning, September 9th, 2016, in her home, after suffering complications from a car accident in early August.
Born on October 6th, 1934 in Suttons, South Carolina, she was the fourth of ten siblings. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Althere “Sing” West Lamb; several siblings; and the family pet alligator, Charlie.
Married on March 19th, 1952 to Joseph B. “J.B.” Thomas of Monck’s Corner, S.C., she was a devoted wife, mother, and caretaker no matter where their lives’ journey took them together: throughout the South Carolina Lowcountry from Charleston, S.C. to Myrtle Beach, S.C. to Rockingham, N.C., and, finally, to Cleveland, Tenn. She was also a talented seamstress who enjoyed working on a new sewing project almost as much as spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, J.B. Thomas, Sr; her son, Jay Thomas (Nikki) of Cleveland, Tenn.; her daughters, Ann Pressley (Gary) of Cleveland, Tenn.; Sharon Vasquez (Mel) of O’Fallon, Ill.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; her sisters, Ann Lyons (Gerald) of Smokes, S.C.; Ruby Dodson of Hixson, Tenn.; and her brother, Charles Lamb (Betty) of Benton, Tenn.
While Pauline’s spirit has moved on to her eternal glory, memories of her love, commitment to the family, and her famous fried chicken and macaroni and cheese will remain with all who passed through her earthly threshold.
In her last weeks, her only wish was that she had more time to dance.
The family will hold a memorial service to celebrate the life of Pauline Lamb Thomas at a later date.
Donations may be made in memory of Pauline Lamb Thomas to the Tennessee Children’s Home (www.tennesseechildrenshome.org).
