Gary Whitford, age 60 passed away at his home in Georgetown, TN. on Wednesday, February 1, 2017. A native of New York, he spent the last 27 years in Bradley County.  He was of the Methodist faith. He served 6 years in the National Guard, President of the Apison Saddle Club, loved stock car racing, enjoyed the outdoors, woodworking, barrel racing and loved spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his father, LeRoy Whitford and brother, Rick Whitford.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Joan Whitford of Georgetown and mother, Mildred Prince Whitford of Georgetown; twin sons, Joseph Whitford of Georgetown and Jimmy Whitford of Cleveland; two grandchildren, Oliver Whitford and J.J. Whitford; two sisters, Sherry Van Amerogen (Phil) of Florida and Sue Williams (Fred) of Riceville; brother, Bruce Whitford (Kathy) of Melrose, NY; sister-in-law, Tina Whitford of Argyle, NY; several nieces and nephews and other extended family also survive.

A Gathering of Friends will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Grissom-Serenity Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m in the parlor.

Family and friends will assemble at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. and proceed to Hilcrest Memorial Gardens for a 2:00 p.m. Committal Service, with Chaplain Lisa Kelly officiating, followed by a white dove release.
