Bobby S. Higdon, 84, of the Black Fox Community, peacefully passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 22, 1932 to Frank and Ura Ownby Higdon in Cleveland, TN. Bobby was employed by Bowater Paper Mill where he worked for 37 years as a machine tinder on the #5 paper machine before retiring in 1993. He proudly served our country in the U. S. Army prior to his career at Bowater Paper Mill. Bobby was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Cleveland Masonic Lodge 134 since 1957. His passion was to watch his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Ura Higdon; wife Joyce Higdon; daughter Debbie Elliott; grandson Raybo Ledford; brothers Paul Higdon and Billy Higdon; and sister Ruby Smittenger. He is survived by daughter Teresha Tippens (Bobby); son Bryan Higdon; daughter Sharon Wagnon; brother Don Higdon; six grandchildren, Nolan Tippens (Georgia), Kyle Tippens (Amy), Jonathan Higdon (Paige), Sam Elliott (Amy), Joe Elliott, and Skye Wagnon; eight great-grandchildren, Caden, Baylor, Hannah Cate, Summit and Mack Tippens, Jackson and Ellie Higdon, and Penelope Elliott; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at Chattanooga National Cemetery with the Army Honor Guard participating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 2, 2017 at the funeral home ending with a Masonic Ceremony.
