Robert "Boog" Sherlin

August 19, 1942 — November 28, 2017

Robert Lee “Boog” Sherlin, 75, went home to be with his Lord on November 28, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. He fought a courageous battle against a nasty disease.

This great man was born August 19,1942 to Robert Raymond Sherlin and Frankie Maude Ogle Sherlin. He was the youngest of 7 children. He was inducted into the Bradley County Old Timers Hall of Fame as well as the Lee University Hall of Fame for his achievements in basketball. He was a lover of his family, especially his grandchildren, and all sports, particularly the Tennessee Volunteers. His personality was larger than life. He had the ability to make you feel like you were one of his closest friends. He always wore an infectious smile and had a positive outlook on life.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Dorothy Frazier, brother Jay Sherlin, and his son Anthony Sherlin. He is survived by his wife, Joyce “Grammy” Sherlin, brothers: Jim, D.A., Roy, & Mervin Sherlin, his children: Beth (Lee) Rainey, Jay Ted Sherlin, their mother Gladys Sherlin, Kathy (Jay Musselwhite) Chord, Sandy (Duke) DeFino, DJ (Kelli) Chord, and grandchildren Madison Sherlin, Camryn Rainey, Aidan Chord, Dani, McKenna, & Dominic DeFino, Brandon, Alex, Ashley, & Addison Chord, and Kayla Beckler, along with numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and “adopted” sons and daughters.

The Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, December 2nd at 11:00 am at Mount Olive Ministries, 3522 Harrison Pike, Cleveland TN  37311 in the main sanctuary. Visitation will immediately follow the Celebration of Life.
