John J. Borgia, 97, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018 at his home. He was the son of the late Philip and Mary Borgia. John was a member of St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church.
He was a veteran of World War II and participated in the European Campaign. John loved dancing and being with people. He particularly like to go to the senior center where he considered his friends there as his second family. John had volunteered for over 10 years at Signature Nursing Home.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Borgia.
Survivors include his daughter, Marie Indovino of Cleveland; 3 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-granddaughters.
The Funeral Mass will be Monday, April 9, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church with Father Mike Nolan officiating. Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. with military honors. Friends from the senior center will serve as pallbearers.
His family will receive friends from 4:00–7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Serenity of Cleveland Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 25, 444 Morgan Rd NW, Charleston, TN 37310.
