Robert “Bob” Leonard Shipman, 81, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018 at an area hospital.
He was born October 1, 1937 in Calhoun, GA to John and Minnie Shipman. Robert was retired after 30 years from Roadway Express where he was able to enjoy his passion of driving his truck. He was Past Master of Cleveland Masonic Lodge #134 and Past Patron of Harmony #143 Order of the Eastern Star. Robert was known as a friendly person who never met a stranger.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, John V. and Minnie Bell Petty Shipman; siblings, Walter Shipman, Sue Waters, Peggy Carrol, Clara Holland, Roy Shipman, and James Floyd Shipman.
Survivors include his wife, Aletha Shipman; children, Larry Sanchez (Kristie) of Cleveland, Cindy Salinas of Dalton, GA, Jacqueline Shipman of Dalton, GA, Matthew Shipman (Cindy) of Covington, GA; grandchildren, Chris Sanchez of Fort Oglethorpe, GA, Kaleb Sanchez (Ashley), Kameron Sanchez (Kaity), Jason Sanchez, Jonathon Sanchez all of Cleveland, Shelby Salinas of Dalton, GA, Ciara Overstreet of Covington, GA; 3 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; siblings, Dennis Shipman, Luke Shipman, Johnny Shipman, Robert S. Shipman, Janie Stover, Robbie Pickett, and Mary Ogle.
The Memorial Service will be Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Serenity of Cleveland Funeral Home with Pastor Lake Walker officiating. The service will conclude with the Masonic Rites.
In Lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, Attn: Office of Development, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
